Meghan Markle has started major buzz since visiting a local animal shelter in London.
On January 16th, 2019, Meghan visited one of her new patronages, Mayhew. Mayhew works to improve the lives of dogs, cats and the people in the community, tackling the root cause of animal abandonment and neglect and supporting vulnerable people to stay with their companion pets. As a well-known pet lover and rescue pup owner to two pups herself, Meghan was thrilled to visit Mayhew.
During her visit, the soon-to-be mama surprised everyone by showing up in a beige sweater dress and stilettos. After meeting some of the staff, she was eager to meet some the animals. And as an avid rescue animal lover, Meghan didn’t hold any affection back from the pups that she met at the shelter.
Meghan shocked everyone, including the staff, by picking up a pup and holding him on her chest! Dressed in fine garments, the Duchess couldn’t help herself when she was introduced to a one-year-old Jack Russel Terrier named Minnie.
Without any hesitation, Meghan reached for Minnie and held her close to her chest, almost as if she was home snuggling her own puppy. Photographers snapped the picture of Minnie and Meghan and shared it online where locals immediately began calling the shelter in hopes of being able to adopt the pup that Meghan was seen loving.
Meghan is known for her love of animals, especially rescue dogs. Before meeting Prince Harry, Meghan had adopted two rescue dogs: Guy and Bogart. When Meghan made the move to London to be with Prince Harry, she left Bogart behind but brought Guy with her. The pup has since been made a brother to another dog which the Duchess has yet to spill the beans on her name, although she did recently admit that her and Harry’s newest pup was a girl.
The Daily Mail states that Mayhew Animal Home in Kensal Green, London, received hundreds of adoption requests for Minnie after the image was shared. In fact, Meghan even offered to take her home, but said the she “has her hands full with a new baby on the way.” In the Spring of 2019, Meghan will welcome her first child.
Since the Duchess can’t adopt little Minnie, perhaps you can! If you’d like to apply to adopt Minnie, head over TheMayhew.org and fill send a message about Minnie! Hopefully, she and the other animals find homes soon!
