Despite widely-circulated rumors that Meghan Markle’s mother had already arrived in London ahead of the Royal wedding of her daughter to Prince Harry, the truth has come out and it's not what anyone was expecting to hear so close to the wedding. And it means a bitter disappointment for the bride-to-be.
Hoping that she would get to spend Mother’s day with her own mum on Sunday, May 13th, Meghan was over the moon with excitement. She has not seen her mother in months and was really looking forward to this time with her on the special American holiday.
But in spite of her request to have Doria come to London in time for the holiday, it looks as though Meghan will have to face the loneliness of being without her.
“There was speculation Ms. Ragland is already in the capital, ready to celebrate the US day [Mother’s Day].” But Express.co.uk has been told by Kensington Palace “There is no change to plans and Ms. Ragland will arrive in the week of the wedding.”
Meghan’s father Thomas Markle will also be arriving next week, Kensington Palace told Express.co.uk.
In a statement issued on May 4, Kensington Palace said: "Mr. Thomas Markle and Ms. Doria Ragland will be arriving in the U.K. in the week of the wedding, allowing time for Prince Harry's family, including The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, to spend time with them before the big day."
Although Meghan will be ecstatic to see her parents the week before the wedding, it would have been a nice extra touch to have her mom with her just a few days earlier, so the duo could have some mother-daughter time before all the hoopla begins.
Either way, it will be a joyous reunion and insiders are saying that Harry and Meghan are looking forward to having Ms. Ragland staying at Kensington Palace right next door to the couple, which should allow for some intimate moments between the two ladies.
Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, Sr. will arrive in London in the days leading up to the wedding, and will attend the private wedding rehearsal with his daughter and ex-wife.
As far as we can tell, they are the only members of Markle’s family to be attending. (Below, Meghan's parents on their wedding day)
Although Harry has met the mother-of-the-bride before, this will be the first time he will meet Meghan’s father. It should make for some interesting conversation!
Kensington Palace added: "Both of the bride's parents will have important roles in the wedding.
“On the morning of the wedding, Ms. Ragland will travel with Ms. Markle by car to Windsor Castle. Mr. Markle will walk his daughter down the aisle of St George's Chapel.
“Ms. Markle is delighted to have her parents by her side on this important and happy occasion."
And I am sure Meghan will be able to relax a bit once Doria is there - after all, moms make everything all better!
