Meghan Markle is only days away from marrying Prince Harry on May 19th and the world can hardly believe it! With less than one week left, all final plans and finishing touches are being made. With nearly every detail passing the bride's inspections, everything is starting to fall perfecting into place. Well, almost...
Meghan has been known to exclude some royal traditions in her wedding, but for the most part, the wedding will have touches American and British Royalty tradition. One component that many have wondered is who will walk Meghan down the aisle; the somewhat estranged relationship between Meghan and her father, Thomas Markle, has led many to believe that he will not play a part in the big day.
Harry has still not met Thomas, but they've reportedly talked on the phone. After months of people speculating whether or not he will walk Meghan down the aisle, Kensington Palace released a press statement sharing that Thomas would, in fact, walk his daughter down the aisle.
However, just days later, things took a turn for the worse...
Just five days before the wedding, it was reported that Meghan and her dad were going through some very serious concerns. Disheartening news leaked that Thomas had been involved with staged photos regarding the upcoming wedding.
Pictures were slammed around the world of Thomas casually working out for the wedding and researching more about his daughter and her future husband. In addition to researching the what's to come for his daughter, photos of Thomas getting fitted for a suite were leaked.
While the photos appear harmless, they are assumed to be staged. Since the engagement, Thomas Markle has been hounded by the media; huge incentives for him to dish on his daughter have harassed him for months, and now, with just days before the wedding, it appears that he's fallen victim to their relentless paparazzi.
A source told Us Magazine that Meghan is deeply saddened and disturbed by her father's recent decisions. While she was excited for the weekend with her father, it's reported that she and Harry have reinstated Thomas' invitation to the wedding entirely, meaning that he will no longer be walking his daughter down the aisle.
Several sources are claiming that Thomas and Meghan are not speaking during this time. Harry has suggested an official statement from Kensington asking the public to be respectful during this time. Royal Family correspondent, Charlie Proctor, tweeted that Kensington Palace honored his request asked the public to be "understanding and respectful during this difficult situation."
With the wedding only days away, we hope that Meghan is not feeling the stress of her family. Although, it's surely a difficult situation to overcome. Meghan and Harry will continue to focus on the wedding and all of the good things that are to come, as this should be an exciting time for them and everyone involved.
