Candid Interview With The Duchess Of Sussex Reveals The Sad Side Of Meghan Markle Since Being Hushed In Her New Family

November 30, 2018

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about Meghan Markle lately.

The American actress turned Royal Duchess of Sussex became an international sensation overnight after becoming engaged to the world’s previously most prestigious bachelor: Prince Harry of Wales.

Meghan’s year following her engagement has been jam-packed with newness; she nearly covered every single magazine in the world, she married the love of her life in from of millions, she and Harry completed their first tour together, they planning a major move, and they’re expecting their first child in the Spring of 2019.

While Meghan has surely enjoyed the first year of her new life, several media outlets have suggested that’s struggled in her new role. In the midst of her very public new role, Meghan has undergone a major transition.

Prior to becoming the internationally known Royal that she is now, she was a successful actress with a very popular lifestyle blog. She was able to communicate her personal thoughts with her millions of fans and partake in experiences without the pressure of The Firm (The Royal Family).

Now, one photographer who was lucky enough to work with the Duchess is remembering Meghan BR (Before Royalty). Kurt Arrigo had the pleasure of meeting Meghan Markle in 2015- one year before meeting Prince Harry) in Malta.

Meghan was writing a piece about her ancestry for her blog, The Tig. After learning that her great-great-grandmother was native to Malta, Meghan ventured to the country for some soul-searching. She was introduced to Kurt who spent two days talking and photographing Meghan.

The Meghan that he saw was very different the Meghan that we see today; Kurt says, “down-to-earth” and spoke casually about her life back home in Canada. She even mentioned that she had recently been divorced. The conversations and moments were simple and not in anyway forced or planned.

Kurt went on to say that Meghan was dressed casually in ripped jeans and wanted her photos to be authentic, rather than staged. Now, that’s all very different.

Kurt recalled the moment he read that she was engaged, saying, “She's probably one of the most influential [women] around now,” he added. “I guess she’s got to be part of that Royal system, and maybe can’t let her hair down as much as would have liked to.”

While Meghan appears to be living a rather exciting lifestyle, it’s obvious that she now represents a much larger brand than her own.

And while she’s managed it well so far, Meghan Markle BR fans can only hope that she’s still given space to find her own identity and passions while in her new role as a Royal.
