When Prince William and Prince Harry lost their mother in 1997, the world grieved for the boys- knowing that their lives would forever be different. Despite living an incredibly public and somewhat messy life, William and Harry have overcome so many obstacles to get to where they are today.

On May 19th, 2018, Prince Harry married American actress Meghan Markle. The world was overjoyed for the beloved prince; after watching grow up for so much of life, his joy was shared by the world of people who adored him.

His bride, Meghan Markle, quickly captivated the world with her elegance and passions. So many wondered what Diana would think of her youngest son’s wife if she were alive today. Harry- too- had wondered that same thing every day, and he believed that his mother would be thrilled to meet Meghan.

During Harry and Meghan’s BBC engagement interview, Harry shared that his mother and Meghan would be “thick as thieves” today. And after learning more about the newly crowned Duchess of Sussex, we can’t help but agree.

While he two women are alike in many obvious ways- both humanitarians, both bold in their ambitions, and both trailblazers- they also share some rather unique traits.

Princess Diana was famous for her handwritten notes to those that she loves. In fact, she wrote “Thank you” notes almost every day to her staff. And believe it or not, Meghan is actually known for the same things!

Meghan used to introduce herself by saying, “I'm an actress, a writer, the Editor-in-Chief of my lifestyle brand The Tig, a pretty good cook and a firm believer in handwritten notes.” Another similarity!

The Duchess of Sussex may be following in her mother-in-law’s footsteps in everything from humanitarian work to leaving handwritten notes for those she loves. We can’t help but think that Princess Diana and Meghan would be pen pals today!
