The May 19 wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is coming up fast, and we just can’t get enough! It seems like every day we are treated to more spectacular details and it’s shaping up to be a spectacular event.
It appears that we don’t know near as much as we thought we did however, as one lucky 19-year-old received a phone call he was never expecting! Sheku Kanneh-Mason is a rising star in the classical music world where he is considered a teenage prodigy cellist.
Meghan called Sheku to personally invite him to play at her wedding, an invitation he eagerly accepted on the spot! Sheku went on to say, “What a privilege to be able to play the cello at such a wonderful event. I can’t wait!”
Sheku was chosen to perform at the wedding alongside a gospel choir, soprano singer, trumpeter and the choir of St. George’s Chapel after he impressed Prince Harry. Sheku performed in London last june at an event to raise money for the Antiguan charity, The Halo Foundation.
This magnificent cellist is also the first black winner of the prestigious BBC Young Musician Award, which he was awarded in 2016. Since then he’s been able to continue to make quite the name for himself, and it’s clear he is one talented musician!
We can’t wait to see this wedding, and the more we learn about it the more spectacular it’s beginning to sound! May 19 can’t come fast enough, that’s for sure!
