You’ve seen it time and time again; celebrities rush past paparazzi to get to their cars or their homes with bags and coats draped over their faces. The bright lights and “journalists" aggressively screaming for a statement or a facial expression. After so many blinding lights and screaming reporters, sometimes people can’t help but have frustrating outbursts.
When Thomas Markle’s daughter got engaged to Prince Harry of Wales, his quiet life changed. Father of the soon-to-be Royal found that, while he’s been living a simple life in Mexico, the press has found no reason to keep their distance. After all, his daughter is about to become a princess and marry the man who is fifth in line to the Royal Throne of England!
Up until now, Thomas has kept under the radar regarding the engagement. So much so that rumors of his discontentment toward the wedding and couple began to swirl. Clarence House, one of the Royal Homes, even went as far as to issue a statement regarding his and his ex-wife’s, Meghan’s mother, feelings about the wedding.
The statement read, “To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as parents. We wish them a lifetime of happiness and are very excited about their future together." While that sounds encouraging, it doesn’t quite sound as convincing as some were hoping. That’s when a U.K. paparazzi took a trip to Mexico to get a real statement.
The reporter found herself in a lucky place when she ran into Thomas at a local convenience store in Mexico. She asked him how he felt and he calmly replied that he was happy for his daughter and future son-in-law saying, “I think it’s wonderful! I’m very delighted. I think they’re a very good match! I’m very happy for them, Meghan and Harry. I love my daughter very much and Harry is a gentleman.”
While that sounds like a genuine and heartfelt response, the paparazza wasn’t satisfied. She probed him again with more questions, but this time, she didn’t get nearly the same response.
The paparazza said that after Thomas was being asked more increasingly personal questions, he burst out in frustration, "Leave me alone, please! Don't bother me anymore," he said. "No more flashing cameras in my eyes or I'll flash you back!”
Thomas is a simple man and it’s easy to see why he might get uncomfortable with so many invasive questions. However, we wonder if he’ll become accustomed to the lack of privacy after the international event of his daughter’s wedding. I guess only time will tell!
