The royal wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry is approaching faster and faster every day it seems as we draw closer to their May 19, 2018, wedding date. As we get closer, we learn more and more about not only the wonderful ceremony, but what will be coming next. Including, new details about what Meghan Markle’s new title will be!
One title that certainly won’t belong to Meghan Markle is “Princess!” That title is reserved for the people lucky enough to be born into the royal family. Although there has been no official announcement on what her new title will be, it’s likely that Harry and Meghan will be granted their own dukedom, and they will then be known as the Duke and Duchess.
The most likely option for the new titles will be Duke and Duchess of Sussex! If that does become their official title like it is rumored, then Meghan will be making history with her new title, as there has never before been a Duchess of Sussex. Although the former Duke of Sussex, Prince Augustus Frederick, was married, his marriages went against The Royal Marriages Act of 1772 his wives were not allowed to have the title of Duchess.
