Meghan Markle Catches Heat For Requesting A Strict No-Photo Policy While Enjoying Her Time At Wimbledon

Meghan Markle is one of the most talked about celebrity figures in the country and it’s certainly easy to see why. It’s not every day that a small-time American actress lands herself a real-life Prince Charming and a royal life all at once.

Her lifestyle certainly has changed drastically since becoming Prince Harry’s bride. She went from a more normal L.A. life to becoming an active part in one of the world’s most adored families. Her popularity skyrocketed even further when she gave birth to her first child, Archie Harrison.

It goes without saying that since this big transition, privacy is a thing of the past.

After taking her official maternity leave, fans were quite heartbroken to know they’d have to go some time without seeing the Duchess out and about in public. She has made a couple of appearances since then, though.

The first was when she and Harry formally introduced their newborn to the world just two days after his birth. She then made another appearance at Trooping the Colour in honor of Queen Elizabeth’s birthday. More recently, she was seen at Wimbledon supporting one of her tennis besties, Serena Williams. At this outing, she made some requests that had fans seriously scratching their heads.

While she technically was not on official royal duty, she made it known to her security staff from the start that she did not want any photos taken of her during her time there. Initially, one would think, “Seriously? You’re the Duchess of Sussex. How can you even think that request could be upheld in any way, shape, form, or fashion?”

On the other hand, though, it’s easy to see her point of view as well. As a new mother, she likely welcomed a bit of a break for some “grown-up time” and wanted to spend it simply enjoying being out with her closest friends. Sadly, when you’re part of such a well-known family, you must kiss luxuries like that goodbye.

One reporter told sources that “a royal protection officer told her not to take any pictures of Meghan because she was at the event ‘in private capacity.’” She said that “it [was] another example of silly control and the officer appeared to be quite embarrassed to ask patrons to put away their phones.”

Of course, Piers Morgan made a point to comment on the Duchess as well. He tweeted: “It’s absurd for Ms. Markle to demand privacy as she sits in the royal box on a publicly-funded jolly with her mates…” He continued: “If you want to be private, go back to America and live privately.”

What do you think about this? Do you think it’s a bit absurd for someone of her notoriety to request something like this or do you think it’s justifiable?
