When it comes to Royal fashion, Meghan Markle is either a not on the top of the list.
Ever since her debut as Prince Harry’s fiancé in November 2017, Meghan has been totally ridiculed for her fashion choices. While there are very few who praise the way she dresses, most tend to wonder “What on Earth was she thinking?!”
Meghan has always had a love of fashion, but her many times its as if she misses the mark with the clothes she opts for; rather than wearing the clothes, they wear her- so to speak. Two examples of missing the mark were when Meghan shocked the world by opting for two rather ill-fitted and simplistic wedding gowns. Given her momentousness moment in history, her look was underwhelming, to say the least.
Many had high hopes for the new Duchess of Sussex. After all, as a member of the world’s most prominently known family, she does have access to her own team of experts in the fashion industry. But, sadly, Meghan continued opting for pieces that confused and even bored fans rather than excited them.
In October 2018, Harry and Meghan set out on their most exciting trip yet- their first Royal tour. The couple had 16 days of touring Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, and Fiji. As if the tour didn’t stir enough excitement, the couple officially announced that they were expecting their first child just hours before beginning their tour.
Since the tour, Royal watchers have been less than enthused about Meghan’s fashion choices; opting for her signature monochromatic color scheme and ill-fitting fabrics, fans have yet to see Megan in anything that they feel resembles a princess.
However, just as several watchers had just announced that they were getting bored with the Duchess, Meghan pulled a little number from her closet that totally wow’d everyone who saw her!
On October 26th, fans in Sydney anxiously awaited the Duke and Duchess’ arrival at Australian Geographic Society Awards. When Meghan made her debut, fans went absolutely nuts- not for her presence, but for her dress! Something that had never happened before!
Meghan stunned in what many are calling her “first princess moment.” In an extravagant tea-length black and white dress by Oscar de la Renta, Meghan shined like true Royalty. The gown featured tulle and bird design; the birds grouped together at the waistline- giving Meghan a gorgeous shape- and then spread out towards the top and bottom of the dress.
The stunning Oscar de la Renta gown was not Meghan’s first couture gown of her trip; the Duchess opted for a unique blue caped dress that showed off her growing baby bump. In Tonga, she wore a white cap-sleeve beaded silk satin column gown- something that many fans preferred over her own wedding dress.
But none- not even her wedding dress- have earned her an official princess moment- only this Oscar de la Renta gown. We are totally obsessed! What do you think? Let us know what you think in the comment section!
