Always beautiful, always charming, First Lady Melania Trump has succeeded in charming another continent as she embarks on a five-day solo trip to Africa. This is the first time Mrs. Trump has traveled internationally without her husband, President Donald Trump. And it seems as though she is doing just fine without him!

Kate Bennett, CNN White House reporter describes just how much Mrs. Trump is thriving on this trip:

“I have covered @FLOTUS [Melania Trump] for almost two years and have never seen her smile and laugh more than she is now with these baby elephants.” It's so nice to see her relax and let her hair down for a while.

And as widely-traveled as the First Lady is, this is actually her first-ever visit to Africa. And she is making the most of her time there, playing with and hugging kids and focusing on improving the well-being of children everywhere.

The trip is in conjunction with Mrs. Trump’s ‘Be Best’ initiative, “the crux of Trump’s trip is focused on schools, hospitals and orphanages while she focuses on the wellbeing of children. But she also had a little time to pet and feed some baby elephants at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya.

Mrs. Trump, “who wore a brown trouser, white blouse, and maroon boots was seen holding the ear of the elephant and she looked at it keenly. (The Star)

“She later fed the elephant with milk accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta who also touched and admired the Jumbo. This attracted other elephants who were seen trooping in to get a feel of the guests and also be fed on milk as they left a cloud of dust behind.”

“Angela Sheldrick, the Executive Director of the Trust established in 1977, narrated to the First Ladies [Mrs. Trump and Mrs. Margaret Kenyatta of Kenya] moving stories of how the orphaned baby elephants were rescued and brought to the orphanage.

"Margaret commended the trust for their efforts in rescuing baby elephants and for giving them such loving care. Mrs. Trump added her own words of gratitude, “Thank you for what you do and taking care of them,” Mrs. Trump said.

There was one tense moment, however, during the First Ladies’ love-fest with the little elephants, One mini pachyderm got a little too affectionate with Mrs. Trump after in response to her kind attention and ended up getting little too close to her, causing secret Service agents to step in and intervene.

According to The Star, “At one point a Secret Service agent was forced to step forward to protect Melania after being nudged by a baby elephant she petted. The agent was seen holding Melania from the back as she protected her, to move the First Lady out of potential danger."

Also on the agenda for the lovely First Lady was a visit to the Nest Orphanage in Limuru, Kenya, where she befriended numerous little children and even joined in a bit of 'sashaying'with them as they danced in her honor.

We are so proud of our classy First Lady and we look forward to seeing her on future excursions as she continues to charm the world as she carries out her duty as a caring and compassionate unofficial ambassador for our country.
