Melanie Trump and Queen Elizabeth II made a striking pair as they appeared together on the lawn of Windsor Castle shortly after meeting for the first time. The statuesque First Lady towered over the diminutive Queen as the two stood side-by-side as the National Anthems of both countries were played.
But height isn't everything! Melania - in her stunning two-piece off-white Christian Dior suit - paled in comparison to the periwinkle blue ensemble the Queen was dressed in. It’s obvious Mrs. Trump got the memo…You know the one making clear that the Queen is to stand out among everyone at an event.
"Utterly flawless Melania Trump chose to wear @dior skirt suit in cream color from Pre Fall 2018 collection to have a traditional English tea with the Queen. She accessorized the ensemble with a fine black leather belt and finished the look with nude pumps. Her hairdo is so elegant and well matched to the total look"
Her Majesty makes it a practice to select brightly-colored garb for her public appearances, and with very good reason. She has often said that she owes it to her subjects to ‘be seen’ when they have come out to lay eyes on her.
Some have suggested that it is because of her short stature that she has taken to this habit over the years, possibly to over-compensate for her lack of height.
It seems to have worked marvelously, as there is never any mistaking who the star of the show is whenever Her Majesty is in the picture.
When news of the scheduled tea with the Queen got out, people immediately took to speculating on how Mrs. Trump would dress for the event - especially since the First Lady has stolen the show at every turn, ever since she and her husband landed in London earlier in the week.
But this time the gracious First Lady let the Queen have center-stage and chose something classy but not ostentatious.
It just goes to show what a class-act our First Lady is. We look forward to more details of the Trumps’ historic meeting with the longest-reigning Monarch in history. I am sure the President will have some stories to tell!
