When making the big decision to attend college, many factors come into play. If you’re fresh out of high school, you try to figure out your living arrangements, carpooling options, and finances. If you’re a non-traditional student, you have to add even more pieces to the puzzle. If children are involved, childcare is needed during your class time, along with the ability to work around your employment schedule.

While this can be a rather trying and exhausting time, the moment a diploma is placed in your hand makes all the long nights of studying completely worth it. A single mom named Ashton Robinson recently had an occurrence at school that left her at a loss for words.

Ashton was preparing to get ready for her evening class when she got a call that her babysitter had to cancel at the last minute. Ashton's small child, Emmett, clearly couldn’t be left alone so she made the tough decision to skip class so that she could watch her child.

She emailed her professor to let him know the reason she would be absent from class. Not long after she sent the email, she received a phone call from her professor. Much to her great surprise, the teacher encouraged her to bring Emmett to class with her!

Ashton couldn’t believe how supportive her professor was and was humbled by his accommodations. She was able to attend the entire lecture, along with her son, Emmett. The little guy stole the hearts of the entire class, especially the professor, who toted him around during the entire the class.

In a Facebook post, Ashton writes, “Being a single mom is so challenging but it’s people like Dr. Henry Musoma that make life just a tiny bit easier! THIS is why I’m so proud to be an Aggie! Definitely something I’ll never forget and I can’t wait to tell Emmett that it’s because of people like this, that mommy was able to graduate from the best university in the world.” Check out the video, below, to see the sweet actions of this gracious professor.
