Mom Returns Home To Find Her Toddler Dead; Abuse Suspected

April 03, 2018

Shamika Gonzalez returned home on Monday, April 2, to find her three-year-old daughter, Bella Edwards, lying unconscious on a bed. Bella had been left with her step-father during the day, while her mother was out. By the time emergency responders brought Bella to St. Johns Hospital, it was too late.

Officers with the New York Police Department Special Victims Unit have been investigating her death, as sources have admitted that Bella’s body was covered with signs of abuse and neglect. Unfortunately, it seems likely that Bella did not die of natural causes at this time. No arrests have been made in the case yet, but we pray that justice can soon be found for little Bella in this horrific case.

On Tuesday morning, Shamika revealed on her Facebook page that there will be a candle lighting and balloon release on April 4 in front of her building. In honor of Bella, they will be releasing pink and red balloons. Please keep Bella’s loved ones and family in your thoughts and prayers as they face this trying time. This is a situation that no mother should have to face, and we can only pray this grieving mother finds some semblance of peace as she faces this horrible loss.

This is a horrible story, and we know that sometimes we need a reminder of the good in the world at a time like this, so be sure to check out the video below!
