Mother Dog Loses All 7 Of Her Puppies In A Tragic Fire. Desperate To Help Her, The Dog's Owner Posts On Facebook And Something Miraculous Happens
Daisy, a Border Collie mix in Oregon has lost all seven of her puppies in a tragic barn fire. The poor mama had not been herself after the fire. Daisy's family say she is distraught over the loss of her puppies. "She's just been so sad and so heartbroken,” said Jessica Woodruff. “She just goes down to the barn and just sits there and tries to look for them still. She quit eating." Jessica knew they needed to do something to help. With he help of her sister, she took to facebook and posted on Facebook to see if there were any foster puppies that Daisy could care for.
An hour away, Lorna Murphy's beloved Border Collie, Chloe, had died in surgery trying to give birth to two puppies. She had already delivered 8 puppies when she went in for the emergency surgery. After losing Chloe, it put Murphy into a dire situation having to care for the tiny puppies. “We started feeding every 2 hours around the clock. It was exhausting,” Murphy, said. “Everybody pitched in to help.” Even her family lent helping hands to take care of the eight orphaned puppies.
“It was a terrible first few days of mourning the loss of Chloe and trying to feed eight puppies with a 3-milliliter syringe,” says Murphy’s daughter, Deanna Murphy-Vest. “The puppies needed feeding every two hours around the clock. With eight puppies it seemed like by the time you were done feeding them all, it was time to start over.” That's when Daisy came in.
The puppies were just ten days old when Murphy saw Woodruff's story about Daisy. So she contacted her and they set things up so that the puppies and Daisy could meet. Nobody knew how or if it was going to work but they were all ready to give it a try. Daisy and the puppies finally meet and Daisy nurses the puppies right away, you can tell there is an instant bond between the grieving mom and the orphaned puppies.
The puppies will now stay with Daisy until they are ready to be weaned. Until then, she's enjoying every moment, Woodruff said. "She’s amazing. She doesn’t go down to the barn anymore and she’s got this smile now and it’s so heartwarming to see her smile again," she said. It is fate. Daisy and the eight puppies need each other and it is a win-win situation. Daisy is happy, the puppies are happy and both owners are so happy for their pups. Watch the video below.
