Mother Pushes 10-Year-Old Daughter Into Highway Traffic After Suffering Psychotic Break

March 13, 2018

47 Year Old Cherissa Drew was arrested on Sunday, March 11, after she was caught pushing her 10-year-old daughter onto a busy highway. The child kept running back to the side of the road, only to be pushed back onto the highway again. When police arrived on the scene, Cherissa told them that they had been abandoned there by her husband after an argument and that he had killed her mother.

As she talked, she began to strip her clothes off and attempted to stop passing traffic. She then pretended to faint, complaining of chest pain. Cherissa and her daughter were placed in an ambulance to be transported to the hospital, but it wasn’t long before deputies were forced to step in to help once again. Cherissa attempted to suffocate her child, covering her face and mouth with the child’s shirt, while holding her around the neck.

Deputies arrested Drew and took her to the Detention Center where she was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, child abuse, attempted murder, resisting arrest, neglecting a child, and indecent exposure in public. They were also able to locate her mother who was safe at her Orlando home but have not yet located Cherissa’s husband. Check out the related video below!
