Critically Endangered Tiger Gives Birth To A Lifeless Cub What Comes Next Surprises Everyone
Any birth is amazing, but the fact that this Sumatran tiger is an endangered species and giving birth to twins is something remarkable! Australia's Zoo captures Kaitlyn, a Sumatran Tiger, as she gives birth to two twin male tigers. Viewers get the rare opportunity to witness.
The video shows the moments of uncertainty as the zoo supervisor, Giles Clark, holds back from helping Kaitlyn. Clark said, "I feel like I should get in there and give her a hand." After a few moments, the cub is breathing consistently and cries out. The next cub comes out kicking and much more noisy than his brother which is exciting to watch!
Like typical twins, these two are nothing alike. They may look alike but I have a feeling they will have personalities of their own. I have twin nephews, though they may look alike, they act completely different.
According to Tigers in Crisis: It is estimated that only between 500-600 Sumatran tigers remain in the wild, and the actual number may be as low as 400. And their population is dwindling rapidly. A 1978 a tiger census reported around 1,000 Sumatran tigers still in the wild. This means over the last 25 years, the population of Sumatran tigers has been cut in half. The Sumatran tiger is considered to be a ‘critically’ endangered species. The Sumatran tiger is found on the Indonesian island and Sumatra off the Malaysian Peninsula. Their habitat ranges from lowland forest to mountain forest.
The birth of these cubs is amazing for many reasons. According to Australia Zoo, Clark said, "Not only will these cubs ensure the survival of the species in captivity, but they will also provide genetic diversity among captive tiger populations.
The cubs' wild bloodline is an important factor. These cubs are possibly the most significant births for the program in recent history." It's safe to say, these cubs are already loved and cherished so much. We can't wait to watch them grow up! Watch the video below:
