Nanny To The Royals, Maria Teresa, Went Through Rigorous Training And It’s Nothing Like You’d Expect

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are proud parents of George, 4, and Charlotte,2. In April 2018, they’ll be welcoming another little one into their family. With three children under five years old, times are sure to get crazy.

That’s why they have Maria Teresa!

Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo has been the Duke and Duchess nanny since 2014 when little George was only eight months old. Since then, this certified nanny has been serving the royal family with all of her might. After welcoming Princess Charlotte in over two years ago, Maria’s presence has greatly affected the duke and duchess.

But Maria’s journey to the royal family wasn’t easy; she studied at Norland College. Norland College is one of the world’s top college for nannies in training. Graduates of Norland serve in the most prestigious families in the world. While traveling in private jets and seeing the world sounds luxurious, the life of Maria Teresa is anything but!

As the nanny to two (soon to be three) of the world’s most popular children, Maria Teresa’s training was rigorous. More than learning how to change a diaper and feed a child, Maria learned techniques that most mother’s don’t even know.

While in school, Maria perfected her, life saving techniques, self-defense training, escaping from dangerous scenarios, and defensive driving. Each day, she would take self-defense classes where she would participate in mock fights, she would devise plans to escape from a variety of scenarios, and she would practice her driving on a very windy driver’s course. When she wasn't learning how fighting moves, she was in a lecture from 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday.

While all of that might sound like a lot, Maria Teresa isn’t just watching two children, she’s watching over the future king of England. And when you’re protecting and child like that, you absolutely need to know quick escapes and self-defense.

A lot have wondered if the third baby in April will require the work of another nanny, but Kate and William have been quoted saying everything will “remain the same.” That means three kids under five for Maria!

That sure sounds like a lot but after seeing all that she went through to prepare her, we think she’s more than capable of protecting- and loving- all of the children.
