New Book Reveals Shocking Information About Meghan Markle’s First Marriage

April 02, 2018

Andrew Morton gained fame as Princess Diana’s biographer, and now it seems he’s been investigating a new royal-to-be! In his new book, Morton delves deep into Markle’s past. One of the biggest parts of Meghan’s life that he investigated however, was her marriage to the 41-year-old television producer, Trevor Engelson.

The couple married in Jamaica in 2011, but it wasn’t long before the marriage went south. When Markle announced the couple would be divorcing in 2013, it came as a shock to not only their friends, but apparently to Engleson himself. In Morton’s book, he says “Trevor went from cherishing Meghan to, as one friend observed, ‘feeling like he was a piece of something stuck to the bottom of her shoe.’”

A huge strain on their relationship and what many believe was the cause of their divorce was her new-found stardom in the television show, Suits. She became a series regular during their engagement, which was the beginning of the end for the couple. She was forced to travel to New York and Canada to film for the show, quite the long commute. Another issue they faced was Markle felt that Engleson should have considered her for some of the parts he had cast. Did Meghan getting her big break cause the downfall of their relationship?
