Princess Eugenie, younger daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York - Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson - will wed executive Jack Brooksbank on October 12th at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. If something sounds familiar, it should. It's the same place in which Prince Harry wed now-wife Meghan Markle on May 19th.
And the wedding venue is not the only similarity this royal event will have with that of her cousin Harry and new bride Meghan. And it’s got the whole world talking about what else they will copy.
The couple has been together for eight years and the wedding is said to be merely a formality - the couple has been living together for some time. In fact, their neighbors are none other than the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, with whom they have a close friendship. Both royal couples have apartments at Kensington Palace so they definitely see a lot of each other.
So it’s no wonder that the Eugenie and Jack would take a page or two out of Harry and Meghan’s playbook when it comes to their upcoming nuptials and subsequent married life together. Perhaps Eugenie has been seeking advice from the Duchess about particulars of the event, and nothing is more telling than the most recent announcement from the Palace.
In a statement from Buckingham Palace, we find out that Eugenie and Jack will follow in Harry and Meghan’s footsteps and invite members of the public to the celebration.
"Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank would like to invite members of the public to join their wedding on 12 October, 2018, to attend inside the Precincts of Windsor Castle."
“A total of 1,200 guests will be given access to the castle grounds, where they will be able to view the arrival of the congregation and the royal family, listen to a live broadcast of the ceremony and watch the bride and groom depart St George's Chapel as man and wife.”
It is expected that the members of the public will have a similar role as they did at the May 19th wedding of Harry and Meghan, remaining outside the church during the actual ceremony. The Palace website goes on to detail how to apply for the coveted tickets, and the winners will be announced in September, approximately one month before the nuptials.
So, if you missed out on attending the last royal wedding, you still have a chance to grace the exterior of St. George’s Chapel for the second of two big events in one year. But apply quickly! The response is expected to be big…and you have only until August 8th to get your applications in.
Stay tuned for more updates about the upcoming royal affair that is now less than two months away. And don't be surprised if you notice additional similarities between this Princess' wedding and that of another beloved royal pair, Harry and Meghan - the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. After all, you can't argue with success!!
