Molly, a pony who lives in New Orleans, was badly injured when Hurricane Katrina hit the barn where she was living. The storm trapped her in the barn and severely injured her front right foot. Her foot was so badly injured there was nothing they could do and, sadly, had to amputate it. She was then fit with a prosthetic device to help her walk. As she grows, she will need new prostheses to accommodate her changing body.
Despite all that she has been through, Molly’s affectionate personality is contagious; everywhere she goes she draws attention. She has a fighting spirit that encourages others to do the same. Kaye, her owner, says that Molly is the “most human” pony she’s ever had. Kaye and Molly spend a lot of time together. Kaye believes that all of this happened for a reason so that Molly would have a greater purpose.
Today, Molly uses her story to inspire and encourage others to never give up. She goes into schools, nursing homes, children’s hospitals, and many others places to inspire kids and adults alike to be strong and courageous no matter what life throws at them.
She has accepted her mission in life to bring love and support to those going through a rough time. She is known to everyone as the three-legged pony. Watch the video, below, and meet Molly...
