When news breaks of someone being diagnosed with cancer, it hits an emotional spot in all those involved. This particular diagnosis is full of frightening unknowns and is often a long, treacherous battle. With the loving support of friends and family, it’s a bit easier to endure this devastating news.
Recently, news broke that popular TV and radio host, Bill Turnbull, has incurable bone and prostate cancer. This came as a heartbreaking shock to him, his family, and all his fans.
His doctors have given him a life expectancy nearing twelve years, and Bill has made it his mission to live every second to the fullest. The 62-year-old isn’t letting this wretched disease get him down, though. Despite the odds, he’s got pleasantly optimistic spirits and is continuing to pursue working as long as possible.
When asked about his situation, he stated:
“I was getting pain in my legs and my hips particularly, and I thought, ‘This is old age.’ Eventually, the pain got so bad I thought I’d better see my GP. He said, ‘I’m just going to give you a blood test, and an MOT if you like, to check a few things out.’ The next morning he called me and asked me in pretty quickly. And the doctor said it’s fairly clear you have advanced prostate cancer.”
This news is an awakening for many and poses an encouraging message for men to know the early signs and always get routine checkups. If caught early on, this cancer can be successfully treated. Check out the video, below, to get the details on the symptoms.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Turnbull family during this heartbreaking time.
