Miscarriages are one of the most difficult losses to endure. If you’ve ever suffered from a miscarriage, then you know that it comes with a heartache unlike anything else. Hope deferred makes the heartache and it can feel nearly impossible to remain hopeful.
Porsha Williams of Real Housewives of Atlanta learned she was expecting her first child, she was ecstatic. But quickly, her pregnancy took the most heartbreaking turn and she suffered from a miscarriage.
Porsha, 37, revealed to PEOPLE that she “suffers from fibroids and had to have a myomectomy (a procedure that removes uterine fibroids).” After the loss of her first child, she was scared. Would she lose this baby too?
Porsha opened up to People and shared that her first thought after learning she was pregnant was excitement, but her that excitement quickly fled. She shared that thoughts quickly emerged out of fear, saying, “So just the fear of, ‘Is the baby going to be okay? Will I make it full term?’ All those questions that you ask if you’ve had a miscarriage before.”
It wasn’t until Porsha saw her first baby that she realized let her mind rest. She shared, “ Going into the first appointment and being able to see baby and hear baby and know that baby is fine, then I can really wrap my mind around actually becoming a mommy.”
The Real Housewives star shared that through this time, she’s relied heavily on her partner, Dennis McKinley. During the interviews he raved about him and his support, sharing, “The thought of me getting that blessing after praying for it for so long and getting that blessing with someone who is just as excited as me — it’s Dennis’ first child, just like me — and it’s something we’ve both always wanted … It’s like a dream come true.”
As of now, the couple is letting themselves dream fearlessly about their baby. They don’t know the sex of their child, but they’ve had fun picking out a name for their first little one.
We are so happy for Porsha! Welcoming a baby is so special and we wish all the best for Porsha and Dennis. Please join us in praying for a healthy baby and healthy mama!
