Prince George and Princess Charlotte May Never Live in Buckingham Palace and Their Granddad has Everything to Do With It

February 23, 2018

For centuries, The Royal Family has kept traditions in place with little to no deviation. One tradition that is quite public is the residence of the reigning monarch. For as long as anyone can recall, that residence as always been Buckingham Palace.

Right now, The Queen resides in Buckingham. While she may have several other places that she calls “home,” Buckingham Palace is reserved specifically for her as Queen. Once the heir receives the crown, they too will reside in Buckingham.

Or so, they might…

Prince Charles, the next heir to the crown, has mentioned that Buckingham Palace might no longer be the official residence of the reigning monarch. Currently, he and his wife, Camilla, are already settled at Clarence House, which is near Buckingham.

Prince Charles has mentioned that he thinks the reigning family should be in a more cost-effective home. He would also like to open up Buckingham Palace to the public for at least 6 months out of the year.

If this is the case, Prince William and his family will most likely never live in Buckingham Palace. While this plan strays from traditions, it is much aligned with The Duke and Duchess’ styles; they are more modest and let’s traditional.

William and Kate have taken a more modest route in how they raise their children; the children don’t play with electronics, many of their toys are given to charity, and their rooms consist of accessories from Ikea and other family members. Modesty is already prevalent in their family.

Of course, only time will tell! Either way, the little prince and princess will be living quite exciting lives! Check out the video below to learn a little more!
