Prince Harry Considered Leaving His Family After Feeling Like The He ‘Didn’t Belong.’ After Nearly Leaving Everything, This Surprising Act Changed Everything

April 17, 2018

So many people have a genuine fascination with the British Royal Family; perhaps it’s because of its a real-life version of a fairytale story, or maybe it's the magic of how the ways of the British monarchy transport tend us to another dimension of reality. Either way, our curiosity with the Royal Family is greater than almost any other family. But have you ever thought about what it would be like to actually be in the royal family?

Prince Harry, one of the more popular members of the Royal Family, knows what it’s really like to be in a royal, and apparently, it’s not at all as glamorous as many think. Prince Harry, grandson to reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth, recently shared that his place in the very public Royal Family nearly became too much.

From birth, Prince Harry has been known by the world. His every move has been watched; from being a little tot playing outside to walking behind his beloved mother’s casket at her funeral, from joining the British military to his romantic life. His life has been made public beyond his request and eventually, he became increasingly overwhelmed at the thought of it.

Prince Harry felt more and more overwhelmed at the thought of what to do next. With his dad the future King and his own brother second in line to the throne, Prince Harry shared that he often felt the weight of the world on his shoulders and he felt that he didn't know his purpose. He began feeling insecure and beaten by the reality of his life.

The weight of it all actually grew so overwhelming that Harry actually considered leaving his family. He shared that after such a public life, he wanted to “leave it all behind and striking out on his own as a commoner.” He shared, “I spent many years kicking my heels and I didn’t want to grow up. I felt I wanted out, but then decided to stay in and work out a role for myself.” Can you blame him?

Then, something changed for Harry...

That’s when Harry joined the Army. He claims that joining the Army was the “best escape I’ve had.” If it weren’t for the Army, Harry wouldn’t have found his purpose in serving others. Because of his time in the Army, he found a purpose outside of himself. Serving in something bigger than him caused him to see life differently.

It was after joining in the Army that Harry decided that he would use his very public platform towards helping others. Since then, he has focused servicemen dealing with physical and mental injuries. Harry has channeled his vibrant energy towards others. Today, he works to inspire, provide, and influence others to use their personal stories to do the same.

Prince Harry’s story goes to show you that life isn’t always what it seems; Harry had everything he could ever want in life, but he found his purpose outside of himself. Prince Harry and his bride, Meghan Markle, share the same passion for people and making a difference and together, we have no doubt that they will use their platforms for good!
