Prince Harry Forced To Spend Valentine’s Day Away From Meghan Markle, Then Gets Hit With 2 Surprises

February 14, 2019

When royal duties call, Prince Harry listens!

On February 14th, 2019, the Duke of Sussex spent his first Valentine’s Day as a married man away from his bride, Meghan Markle. The Duke traveled to Norway on the adored holiday to visit military service members.

His visit was not in vain, as the former Captain General of the Royal Marines (a role that he inherited from his grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh), Harry will witness the 50th anniversary of the Exercise Clockwork - a traditional exercise that has trained over 16,000 Royal Marines and Royal Navy sailors and airmen since 1969.

Harry flew to Bardufoss, Norway where he was met with service members training both in classrooms and on the field testing new equipment. According to PEOPLE, the Exercise Clockwork incorporates “multinational exercise, personnel are taught how to survive, operate and fight in the extreme cold weather and gain experience of operating aircraft in severe cold weather and mountainous environments.”

While Prince Harry appeared to be all smiles while fulfilling his Royal duties, it’s likely that he missed his wife. Meghan is a self-titled “sucker for Valentine’s Day” so Harry being away might be difficult for the two of them.

The service members that Harry was visiting must have known of Meghan’s love for the holiday because they managed to incorporate her into his visit as well. During Harry’s visit, he was brought into an igloo which featured a desk and served as an office. In the office, service members had gone through the effort of framing two sweet pictures from Harry and Meghan’s wedding day.

The Royal was pleasantly surprised to see pictures of his bride from their special day, and we can’t help but wonder how Meghan responded when she learned that the service members acknowledged that they were apart for their first Valentine’s Day as husband and wife.

Thankfully Bardufoss, Norway, is just a couple hours away by plane, so Harry can get back to his wife before the beloved holiday ends! This will be the first and last Valentine’s Day as just the two of them so we hope they have some special celebration planned!
