The internet is full of photos that the subjects wish had never seen the light of day, but with paparazzi around every corner, it’s very difficult for those in the public eye to escape the intrusive click of a shutter. And they know that, without a doubt, that pic will be zooming across the internet in a nanosecond.
And, perhaps more than any other celebrities, the Royal Family of Britain has had to face embarrassing and awkward photos that were most decidedly NOT sanctioned by Buckingham Palace!
Although they make every reasonable effort to control the types of photos that get out, once awhile a sneaky snap makes its way onto the world stage that they never intended to release.
That’s exactly the case with the newest bunch of royal photographs that have caught the world’s attention, but this time the photo that we were never meant to see came from the official photographer, not a paparazzo!
As any self-respecting royal-watcher knows, whenever there is a momentous family occasion within the Royal Family, the official photographer snaps official photos, and make an official release of those deemed worthy of the occasion. Each and every snapshot is carefully selected by the Royals to make sure that only the best is presented to the world.
We’ve seen that very tradition come to pass several times in recent months, first with the engagement photos of Prince Harry and then-fiancée Meghan Markle, the couple’s subsequent wedding portraits, and most recently, the christening of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s youngest child, Prince Louis.
One week after the family affair at Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace in London, four official photos were shared with the public, and the world was in awe. From the color-coordinated outfits to the adorable expressions on the faces of Prince George and Princess Charlotte - we were all charmed…albeit in a traditional, reserved, proper sort of way.
Then THAT photo surfaced and everything changed.
The fifth snap, giving a quick peek into the personality of little Prince Louis, delighted us all because of its departure from tradition. Never before have we been treated to a look at such a young Royal in such an unguarded and dare we say ’unstaged’ pose.
Originally intended for the family’s personal collection only, somehow, someone convinced the Palace to release this magical fifth pic…and we’re so glad they did! The candid shot perfectly captures the proud and protective love of a mother and the utter innocence and joy of a tiny babe, safely nestled in his mother’s embrace.
Although the first four photos were lovely, there just something so special about the fifth one. And it gives us hope that perhaps the Royal Family will be inclined to give us similar treasures again in the future!
