A love between a mother and her child is unlike any other. It’s a love that needs no explanation; it’s simply understood and felt to the deepest part of their being. Seeing her lovingly tend to her child’s every need is quite empowering. When the child grows older, the bond inevitably grows strong.
From the moment Prince William and Prince Harry came into the world, they were as thick as thieves. While we will never know just what went on behind the palace doors, their behavior and mannerisms toward one another easily led us to believe they were undeniably close.
This close-knit bond also included their mother, Princess Diana. Her adoration for her boys was evident in every outing and every photograph. She would do anything under the sun for her children, and they, in return wanted to do the same.
Though Princess Diana was taken from us far too soon, they’ve continued to honor her as much as they would if she were still alive. Recently, William and Harry made the bold decision to honor their beloved mother, and the way they opted to do so is undeniably heartwarming.
Shortly before her tragic passing, Diana was seen on her last foreign trip decked out in full attire for her landmine campaign with the Halo Trust. The images captured on that iconic day still burn in the minds of all her friends, family, and devout followers. The attire was made up of a flak vest, denim shirt, and chinos. On the vest, the words “The Halo Trust” were written in large navy lettering.
William and Harry knew just how groundbreaking this campaign was for their mother and wanted to keep this alive. They chose to do so by choosing to display this monumental outfit at the home they shared together, Kensington Palace.
This exhibition has been going for quite some time, showcasing some of the most iconic looks the Princess wore through her short years. “...The exhibition not only charts the impact of Diana’s unique public role in her wardrobe but also her impact on British and global fashion,” the exhibition overseer said in a statement.
An exhibition curator also stated, “Diana, Princess of Wales was one of the most photographed women in the world, and it’s no coincidence that so many of her outfits are now among the most easily recognizable in fashion history.”
This priceless memorabilia is just one small way William and Harry could publicly profess their deep adoration for the woman who taught them so much. She will forever be alive in our hearts and our memory.
