You know the phrase: Things aren’t always what they seem? Well, that couldn’t be truer for the most iconic family in the world: The British Royal Family. While the British Royal Family might appear to have perfect lives, the truth is far from perfection. Sure, they live in castles, wear couture gowns and diamond tiaras, but at the end of the day, they’re people who are under a highly critical sense.
But the truth is, their life is really just a “normal” like everyone else’s. Sure, their names will go down in history, but the British Royal Family has their own struggles and triumphs. After all, they are “only human.”
Today, we know the Royal Family better than we ever have before. With social media and constant interviews, we have the chance to see members of the famous family nearly on a day to day basis.
Two of the Royal Family’s most talked about members are Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. As granddaughters to the Queen and William and Harry’s first cousins, Beatrice, 29, and Eugenie, 28, are often in the Royal Family's spotlight- and it's rarely for anything positive.
Beatrice and Eugenie have been in the spotlight for nearly their entire lives. Their parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, have received massive amounts of attention since Sarah’s cheating scandals that led to a messy divorce. Beatrice and Eugenie suffered major and world-wide repercussions from their mother’s unfaithful actions. Now, nearly three decades later, Beatrice and Eugenie find themselves the topics of several nasty rumors and tabloid lies.
In a recent interview with British Vogue, the princess revealed that they struggle with a lot of what the media shares with them simply because it’s not true. The sister pair confessed that they are “each other’s rocks” when public ridicule gets out of hand.
Younger sister Eugenie shared, “There was a horrible article that had been written about Beatrice and she got really upset. We were just about to step out [at a Buckingham Palace garden party] and she had a bit of a wobble and cried. I was looking after her… And then about an hour later, I had a wobble and started crying and Bea was there for me.” Thankfully, they have one another to not let the lies and negativity of the media drag them down.
Now more than ever, Beatrice and Eugenie are relying on each other to navigate their Royal status, personal lives, careers, and reputations- all thanks to the always-connected world of social media. Thankfully, these two sisters vow to always have each other’s backs!
