If you’re a royal watcher, then it’s likely that you’re a royal fashion police too!
It’s nearly impossible not to get caught up in the details of Royal garments, especially in the today's world when every outfit is shared on social media in an instant.
The Duchess of Sussex is known for her neutral wardrobe or black, white, blue, navy, and beige. In her time of being a Royal, she’s only worn a handful of colorful ensembles, which makes colorful ensembles quite a headline. On Monday, January 14th, she opted for a bold purple dress and a vibrant red coat that immediately sent fans and critics into a tailspin- and not just because of her bold outfit, but because it brought up memories of the late Princess Diana.
Princess Diana was iconically photographed multiple times in outfits that feature purple and red. In fact, one of her most famous images ever taken was of her in front of the Taj Mahal featured a purple skirt with a red jacket. Immediately, Meghan’s outfit drew comparisons to her late mother-in-law.
As if that wasn’t a big enough uproar in the Royal watcher community, the Duchess of Sussex decided to put herself in the running with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law by wearing her own purple ensemble on Wednesday, January 16th.
The Duchess of Sussex opted for a repeat Oscar De LaRenta while she visited the costume department of the Royal Opera House. Of course, Royal fans went into total hysteria after seeing three of their favorite royals wear similar shades.
Immediately, fans and critics alike went to social media to share whether or not they thought Kate and Meghan were competing to see who wore purple better. And while we doubt there’s any malicious intent behind their outfit choices, we can’t help but pick our own favorite.
I personally love Princess Diana’s outfit the most, but that could be because it’s such an iconic ensemble. Between Kate and Meghan, it’s impossible for me to pick a favorite- I think it’s a tie! What do you think? Let us know in the comment section on Facebook!
