Her Majesty has spoken! But, it’s not what you think.
All heck has broken loose since Queen Elizabeth has revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, “doesn’t do very much.”
When we first heard this, we knew we had to set the record straight! Here’s the scoop!
When Prince William began attending St. Andrew’s University in 2001, he intended on pursuing a masters degree in geography. Very shortly after arriving at university, he met Kate Middleton. The two became quick friends and, eventually, their friendship turned into a near decade-long romantic dating relationship.
For the next eight years, the world would know Kate as “Waity Katy.” While they remained together (for the most part) over the next several years, Kate was kept out of the spotlight. This was very intentional on Prince William’s part.
William’s lack of commitment allowed Kate Middleton to enter the Royal Family gradually rather than all at once. For many years, her relationship with William existed in private during their college years. Following graduation, Kate worked a job as a buyer for London-based boutique. William requested multiple times that paparazzi stay away from Kate as he hoped that she would have privacy, unlike his late mother, Princess Diana.
Once Kate married into the Royal Family in 2011, she took her role as the Duchess of Cambridge. Her new role as a wife would undeniably require a lot from her, as Prince William was set to be King of England in the future. While her duties would surely come soon, there was a period of time when it was believed that Kate did very little.
According to Phil Dampier who has been reporting on the Royal family for over 20 years, said it was during this period of time that “The Queen once remarked, 'Kate doesn’t do very much,' so I think she had a fairly long entrance to the Royal family.”
Phil added, “William, because of what happened to his mother, was very protective of her and always has been since then. She only does what she wants to do and is comfortable with and isn’t put under too much pressure and scrutiny. His family’s been his number one priority.”
It is clear that William wanted his wife to feel as though her role as a wife was just as - if not more - important as being a Royal. Kate may not have done much from the perspective of Royal watchers or even the Queen for that matter, but this was very intentional on Prince William’s behalf.
Today, Kate is known for being a present Royal family member who regularly makes appearances, as well as being a loving mother to her and William’s three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince George. Personally, I think she works very hard and I am quite impressed by the Duchess! What do you think?!
