In the eye of the public, Queen Elizabeth can seemingly do no wrong.
She has such poise and grace, full of dignity and reverence, all of which are true characteristics of a royal monarch. Despite the fact that she is 92-years-young, she still hasn’t made any big plans to step down from her role anytime soon.
She’s broken more records and crossed more milestones than any of her predecessors and likely most of those who will follow in her footsteps. She’s a living, breathing legend and is worthy of all the praise her people have to give her.
Recently, she passed another monumental milestone. This one is far different from any of the others, but her fans on the internet were incredibly quick to take note of it!
There are innumerable rules, regulations, and protocols in place for members of the British Royal Family. Being the reigning Monarch, it is her duty to ensure that her family follows them with vigor and as much due diligence as she.
On March 7, the Queen made a visit to the Science Museum where she broke a whole new kind of record. For the first time in history, a reigning monarch made a post to social media!
She has a very strict rule for her family to remain off of social media sites and it is particularly enforced for those active, working members of the family. Knowing this information, it shocked millions when it was revealed that she had jumped on the internet bandwagon and made her very first post to the Royal Family’s official Instagram account.
It is said that she captured the image of an item on display with her iPad and likely had some help working the social media account. Nevertheless, fans were thrilled to know that she was the one behind the photo!
She captioned it: “Today, as I visit the Science Museum I was interested to discover a letter from the Royal Archives, written in 1843 to my great-great-grandfather Prince Albert. Charles Babbage, credited as the world’s first computer pioneer, designed the “Difference Engine” upon which the first computer programmes were created by Ada Lovelace, a daughter of Lord Byron.”
It continued: “Today, I had the pleasure of learning about children’s computer coding initiatives and it seems fitting to me that I publish this Instagram post at the Science Museum which has long championed technology, innovation, and inspired the next generation of inventors. - Elizabeth R.”
Fans were losing their minds over this post - and for a good reason! Despite the way things have always been done, it’s so refreshing to see her great appreciation for the way that the world is moving forward with technology.
Who knows what the future will hold now for the Queen! An Instagram live video in the future?!
