Red Velvet French Toast With Vanilla Bean Cheesecake Topping Combines The Best Of Breakfast And Dessert In One Delicious Dish

Let’s talk breakfast. It’s one of the most crucial meals of the day and the options are limitless. If you want some savory, “stick to your bones” kind of food, your options range from veggie-filled omelets to biscuits loaded with delicious gravy. If you prefer something a little more on the sweet side, there’s fruit-filled oatmeal and stacks of pancakes galore. When you’re in the mood for going all out for the best meal of the day, my automatic go-to is a large plate filled with French toast.

When I came across this recipe, I had to do a double-take. Somehow, someone managed to create a breakfast/dessert combination that will rock your tastebuds like no other! First of all, red velvet flavored anything is finger licking good. When you use that flavor for French toast, you’ve got yourself a plate full of breakfast perfection! Check out the recipe below to see just how easy it is to make this masterpiece.



4 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
4 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tbsp. + 2 tsp. red food coloring
8 slices bread, halved
8 oz. cream cheese
1 tsp. vanilla bean paste
Fresh raspberries, for topping



For the French toast, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, 2 tbsp. sugar, vanilla extract, food coloring, and cocoa powder in a bowl until well-combined. Transfer mixture to a shallow bowl.

Dip your bread slices into the egg wash mixture and press lightly a few times to soak through completely. Flip each slice and repeat until all the slices are evenly coated. Place in a pan over medium heat and cook until the bread becomes a little toasty on the edges.


For the cheesecake topping, combine the cream cheese, 2 tbsp. sugar, and vanilla paste in a medium bowl and whip together until fluffy. Pipe the mixture atop each piece of French toast and top with raspberries.
