Beloved television star and comedian Roseanne Barr took a huge hit to her career this spring when she was suddenly fired after negative reaction to a tweet she posted about Valerie Jarret, an Obama staff member.
Amid the swift response from ABC, Barr’s highly-rated and immensely-popular sitcom was unceremoniously canceled, leaving not only Roseanne but also the entire cast and crew unemployed.
In spite of her actions, Roseanne’s popularity remained high, with support coming from all directions, and now, just weeks after the brutal dismissal she is opening up about how the incident affected her and her loved ones.
TMZ reveals that a repentant Roseanne appeared on the Rabbi Shmuley podcast and described some aspects of the incident that might surprise her fans. The beloved comedian revealed that things haven’t been all bad for her since her life was so abruptly upended in May.
She has received numerous television offers and there’s one that she just might take!
ABC’s self-inflicted loss will be another network's gain as the brilliant entertainer brings her unique brand of self-deprecating humor and honesty to a new and exciting project. Although Barr doesn’t reveal the name of the offer, she indicates that she is close to signing.
As for the fate of the show that she left behind, the network recently announced that they are bringing back ‘Roseanne’ without Roseanne. Only time will tell if this re-re-boot will succeed but most experts are not optimistic.
Most are of the opinion that it is unlikely that the remaining ensemble will have the strength to carry the program without the lifeblood behind the show - the star and creator - Roseanne Barr.
And here's something you probably didn’t know: After Roseanne's brutal separation from her TV family, she didn’t ask for anything, monetarily, from the show, saying "I thought signing off of my own life's work and asking for nothing in return, I thought that was a penance."
Please join us in wishing Roseanne the best of luck in rebuilding her reputation and career. She seems genuinely contrite about her actions and extremely sorrowful about the harm she caused those she loves and cares about.
She makes it very clear that she takes responsibility for her ill-conceived move and is willing to pay the price for what she did.
Now, it’s up to us, the public, to give her that second chance that we ALL have been given at one time or another in our lives after WE made some bone-headed move.
