ABC Agrees To Bring Back ‘Roseanne’ On One Crazy Condition! After The Massive Announcement, Fans Are Getting Frank About The Brutal Consensus

June 22, 2018

When ABC brought back the beloved 1988-97 sitcom series Roseanne, fans were beyond thrilled! The show’s ratings went through the roof proving it’s characters, plots, and outfits were greatly missed. The popular conservative sitcom was quick to make its born-again presence felt in television, especially the star of the show: Roseanne Barr.

While the ratings were astronomical, Roseanne herself was digging herself into to major trouble; the outspoken conservative took to Twitter to share her personal opinions- many of which were dehumanizing to others who sided against her politically. After one too many unethical tweets made by the star, ABC made the sudden choice to cancel the show immediately.

Fans were furious with the show’s abrupt cancellation and begged ABC to reconsider. While millions disagreed with the star’s statement online, they still had hopes for the show to remain.

On June 22nd, 2018, exactly one month since it’s cancellation, ABC made a shocking announcement: they would bring back the beloved project commonly known as "Roseanne."

There was just one little caveat…

Roseanne wouldn’t have any part in the show.

ABC announced that they would bring back the plot, the cast, but not the star. So, what would Roseanne be without Roseanne herself?

Roseanne’s producer, Tom Werner, confirmed that Roseanne Barr agreed to the settlement of the show so that the 200 jobs of the cast and crew would be saved. Even Roseanne shared: "I regret the circumstances that have caused me to be removed from "Roseanne.” I agreed to the settlement in order that 200 jobs of beloved cast and crew could be saved, and I wish the best for everyone involved."

Moving forward, the show will be called, “The Conners” and will star members of the original cast. All but Roseanne, that is.

ABC left fans encouraged when they said, "The Conners' stories demonstrate that families can always find common ground through conversation, laughter, and love. The spinoff will continue to portray contemporary issues that are as relevant today as they were 30 years ago.”

“The Conners” will air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. but a premiere date has yet to be announced.
