On June 19th, 2018, the newly minted Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in a horse-drawn carriage to one of the most iconic events of the year: The Royal Ascot.

The five-day horse racing event has been a longstanding tradition for royalty and upper-class elitist since 1711. This year's Royal Ascot was Duchess Meghan’s first time attending the Royal Ascot and of course, she stole the show. The Duchess wore a simple white collared shirt dress by Givenchy (her wedding dress designer) and a gorgeous white and black hat.

During the event, all eyes were on the Duchess as fans were eager to see her every move made at the races. Harry and Meghan had the unique opportunity of presenting the first-place trophy to the Gold Cup winner, Frankie Dettori.

Upon receiving his prize, Harry and Meghan cheered for Frankie as he made his way up to collect his trophy.

As he accepted his trophy, Frankie made an incredibly bold move! In front of hundreds of cameras and the Duchess’ husband, Frankie reached for Meghan’s and kissed it!

While Meghan let out a little giggle at the gesture, cameras captured Prince Harry looking less than happy about the acceptance kiss. Instead, Harry looked irritated and surprised that Frankie dared to make such a move.

After laying a kiss on the Duchess’ hand, the trio took photos together. Prince Harry did the unthinkable and wagged his pointer finger at the equestrian and jokingly scolded him for his bold move on his new wife.

All three let out a happy laugh in recognizing the joke, putting everyone’s mind at ease. Frankie was merely showing his appreciation and fondness towards the Duchess and met no harm. Likewise, Prince Harry responded playfully.

The couple went on to mingle during the rest of the opening day of the Royal Ascot. The pictures show the Duke and Duchess to have had a wonderful time!
