In the most ridiculous story of the day, we see two of the most popular media topics colliding: the British Royal Family and the President of the United States. It's a match made in heaven for pop culture fans, and there are so many potential talking points that we don't know where to start. Just for fun, let's start with the completely fabricated story about how Prince Charles and Prince William showed their disdain for President Trump by refusing to meet join the Queen when she met with him.
As President Trump and wife Melania make their historic trek across Europe, they find themselves the object of both praise and condemnation for their actions. The internet was all aglow as it regaled the stunning outfits the First Lady wore during her time in England, and they were equally harsh when it came to her husband. Not of this couture but for some of his actions that some are saying are embarrassing and rude.
In fact, long before Mr. And Mrs. Trump ever set foot on British soil, plans were being made to protest his arrival, in order to draw attention to the faction of the population that reportedly has a great dislike for the American leader.
Even though Prime Minister Theresa May and Queen Elizabeth II made it a priority to meet with President Trump, his detractors were picking apart his every move in an effort to cast aspersions on him and to ‘prove’ that he is 'persona non grata.'
The fact that the Queen thought President Trump was worthy of her time would have been enough to settle the debate over the Royals’ feelings about the controversial president. But nope…
Apparently, it was a huge deal that Prince Charles and Prince William did not join the Queen during her tea with the Trumps, and now it’s supposed to be proof of a snub. The media makes it sound as though the Queen tried her darnedest to get someone, anyone, to stand with her on the lawn of Windsor Castle to meet the Americans, but to no avail.
Although the Queen has met countless dignitaries by herself in the past, the fact that it was President Trump turned it into a media frenzy.
Never mind that Prince Charles and Prince William had other engagements that day…detractors implying that they were only cover so they wouldn’t have to be there. I guess if you follow the same logic, then the fact that the Queen and Prince Philip missed Prince Louis’ christening REALLY means that they can’t stand their great-grandson.
And why not take it a bit further - she must really HATE her grandson William and granddaughter-in-law Kate or he would have been there. See what I mean? You can make anyone look bad if you try hard enough.
Anyway, Mr. Trump Doesn’t seem to be phased in the slightest by the continuous onslaught of defamation of his character, as he happily goes about improving our stature in the world, increasing American prosperity, and generally making America great again. And that’s something we can all get behind!
