Plans for the wedding of the century are well underway. Many have calendars marked for May 19, 2018, when Prince Harry will wed his beloved fiance, Meghan Markle. It goes without saying that preparations of an event of this magnitude are as enormous as the day itself. The adoring couple is planning for the attendance of over 2,000, with millions more worldwide watching.
Each member of the family has a role to play in the wedding. Many wonder, though, where does Queen Elizabeth fall into the mix of things? She has always held her grandsons, Prince William and Prince Harry, very near and dear to her heart, so we know that she will have a crucial role in it all.
The Queen always gets the final say, and everyone in the family openly welcomes her input on large occasions such as this. According to sources, though, her response to the Royal wedding was quite different than many had anticipated.
“I’m told from my sources at Windsor Castle that [Queen Elizabeth] is being very, very accommodating. She has said to the couple, ‘This is your wedding, this is your day. Plan it as you want it.’ [This] is very generous because, don’t forget, the queen is opening up her home,” an inside source says.
He went on to say, “Don’t forget she’s hugely close to her grandson. They have a very special relationship. She is thrilled to be seeing Harry settle down and finally marry. She’s going to want to be a very important part of that day and indeed she will.”
While Queen Elizabeth will be involved in a great deal, there is one part of the wedding she likely will forego. When it comes to the afterparty, it’s highly unlikely she’ll be joining in on the dancing. After such a grand and eventful day, it’s fair for her to skip out on this one aspect.
