Heartbreaking news released on October 17th, 2018 after a school shooter went on deadly shooting spree in his high school.
As of 1 PM EST, The Washington Post confirmed that 18-year-old Vladislav Roslyakov was identified as the shooter. After arriving at a high school in Russian-annexed Crimea, Russia, Vladislav shot and killed 18 people. Currently, more than 50 are wounded and many victims are in critical condition.
After tragically disrupting the school, Vladislav turned the gun on himself.
The Washington Post reveals that Vladislav’s attack was well-planned with explosives. The Post also believes that there may have been a terrorist motive.
The 18 victims who lost their lives suddenly are believed to have died from gunshot wounds. Russian investigators claim that most of the victims are teens.
The high school in Kerch is the school to most 15 to 19-year-olds. Investigators believe that there was a bomb planted in the school cafeteria. Some Twitter users have reported that the bomb has already gone off, although no major outlet has confirmed.
Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin, shared condolences to the families of victims, “It is clear that a crime took place. The motives and scenarios of this tragedy are being studied.”
The Post reveals that Russian Media has released pictures of Vladislav who shared a striking resemblance with the shooter of the 1999 US Columbine High School Shooting. The two even wore similar outfits to carry out their attack.
The Post reveals that Russia has very strict gun laws, stating that mass casualties by guns are rare. Rather, several incidents have been reported in which students launched attacks with axes, knives and air guns. Vladislav purchased the automatic rifle used in his attack just last week.
Please pray for families and friends of the victims along with the attacker’s mother, who is believed to be quite shaken up at her son’s deadly shooting.
