Great Mills High School in Great Mills, Maryland, was the unfortunate site of a school shooting on the morning of Tuesday, March 20. Immediately the school was sent into lockdown, and the moment the shooter was contained the other students were evacuated to a nearby school, Leonardtown High School, where they could be reunited with their parents.
A total of three students were injured at the school, which is reported to include the alleged shooter, but there were no casualties. All of the students injured were taken to nearby hospitals, but their condition is currently unknown. This comes less than a week after the students participated in a walkout to end gun violence.
Great Mills is located 60 miles from Washington D.C. where a subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee will be hosting a hearing to talk about possible solutions to the school violence and other violence issues we are having in this country. The shooter was allegedly taken down by the school resource officer! Please keep the victims and their families in your prayers.
