The music world was shocked at the sudden death last week of superstar singer and DJ, Avicii. The beloved musician, whose real name was Tim Bergling was having a difficult time in recent months and now his family has opened up about their worst fears.

According to TMZ, Bergling “was struggling with major issues at the time of his death ... which his family is now strongly insinuating was a suicide." Avicii had recently stopped touring due, in part, to some health issues he was experiencing.

The 28-year-old was found dead last week in Muscat, Oman; no official cause of death has been released. Now, in a sad and shocking statement just put out by his family, we get a glimpse of just what demons the talented singer was battling.

Here's the family’s statement:

“Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions.

“An over-achieving perfectionist who traveled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress.

“When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness.

“He could not go on any longer.

“He wanted to find peace.

“Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight.

“Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed.

“The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive.”

The statement seems to imply, without actually saying the words, that their beloved son took his own life. Authorities have ruled out foul play in the 28-year-old's death, and we are still awaiting the official cause of death.

We continue to pray for the Bergling family and wish them peace and comfort during this horrifically difficult time.
