This morning, a teacher at Dalton High School reportedly fired one shot. A nearby witness heard a gunshot and immediately contacted the local police.

The school was immediately put on lockdown, and the police force surrounded the campus. No one was reported to be injured by the gunshot, but, in the hurried madness, one student sustained an injury to the ankle.

The local police department stated via Twitter:

“In response to a threat lockdown at Dalton High School, students are being relocated to the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center at 2211 Dug Gap Battle Road. Parents and guardians should pick up their students at that location. DO NOT go to Dalton High School.”

The teacher, Randal Davidson, has now been taken into custody. There has currently been no word of cause for the shooting.

Our prayers are with the students and family during this terrifying time.
