Should Prince Harry’s Stepbrother And Stepsister Attend His April Wedding To Meghan Markle? It All Depends On Whom You Ask

It’s a sad fact that, in today’s society, we tend to look for the worst in people, especially those who seem to live charmed lives, and it’s no different for the Royal Family. There is a segment of the population who have nothing good to say about them and go out of their way to interpret every bit of news in a negative fashion.

So when the public eye turned in the direction of Prince Charles’ low-profile stepchildren, rumors swirled as to their relationship with the “real” children of the heir to the throne.

Like in any good fairytale, stepchildren are suspected of being self-serving, if not completely evil - Case in point, the wicked stepsisters Anastasia and Drizella from the Disney's classic, Cinderella.

But is this assessment fair or even remotely true when it comes to The Duchess of Cornwall’s two children from her first marriage to Andrew Parker-Bowles? There’s nothing at all to indicate that this is even remotely true.

Granted, we have not previously faced the issue of stepchildren in the Royal family, since the marriage of an heir to the throne to a divorcée was strictly forbidden. King Edward VIII famously abdicated in 1936 so he could marry divorcée Wallis Simpson.

Princess Margaret, Queen Elizabeth’s only sister was denied permission to marry Group Captain Peter Townsend 1955 because he, too, was divorced.

The reason that remarriage was prohibited is that The King or Queen is also the head of the Church of England, which forbids divorce or marrying a divorced person. With the passing of time, however, rules were loosened so Prince Charles could marry Camilla Parker- Bowles in 2005. Consequently, stepchildren joined the Royal Family for the first time in history.

From all reports, it seems that Princes William and Harry have a cordial relationship with Tom Parker Bowles, 43, and Laura Lopes, 40.

In fact, not only did both Royal Brothers attend Laura’s wedding to Harry Lopes in 2006, but one of Laura’s children, Eliza, served as a bridesmaid in William and Kate’s wedding in 2011.

In these modern times, it seems just as likely that Laura and her brother will attend Harry’s wedding in April.

Only time will tell, of course, but I would be completely surprised if a wedding invitation were not extended to the Prince’s stepsister and stepbrother. What are your thoughts on this thoroughly modern Royal family issue?? Learn more about this thorny issue in the video, below.
