Elton John, one of the world’s most popular artists, made an announcement that shook the world. In a heartfelt interview in front of fans, Sir Elton John shared that he would no longer be touring.
Through his tears and slow remarks, he shared that his "priorities have changed.”
Many people know the legacy of Elton John; In 50 years, he’s recorded over 30 albums, sold over 300 million records, and has won over 42 music awards. He’s made history as one of the best-selling music artists in the world.
After decades of touring, Elton John has said that he wants to focus on being a father. He and his partner, David, sat down in 2015 to talk about their future as fathers to their two children: Elijah, 5, and Zachary, 7. During his interview, he said, "I love them so much, I don't want to miss them and I don't want them to miss me."
Sir Elton announced that he would be going on one final tour. The final tour is scheduled for 300 dates. Elton says it's his way of saying "thank you and goodbye" to his fans. "I want to go out with a bang," he added.
Elton will honor his touring legacy with a massive three-year world tour beginning in the U.S. during September 2018. His final show will take place in 2021.
