One of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces has made headlines again, and in a manner no one could have ever predicted.
Steve Buscemi has spent his life entertaining audiences near and far, be it by his acting and directing abilities or his comedic relief. His success only continues to grow with each passing year.
The 61-year-old, though often one to keep things lighthearted and comical, let his somber side show at a recent awards ceremony. This is something that no one in the audience ever thought they’d hear.
In January 2019, Buscemi’s wife, Jo Andres, unexpectedly passed away at the young age of 64. The couple had been married for 32 years and had one child together, Lucian Buscemi (29).
Buscemi was recently on stage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas accepting an award. In his acceptance speech, he made a sincere and heartfelt tribute to his late wife, Jo.
“I want to thank my family, who’s been so supportive. My parents, my brothers, and also my son and my wife,” he started. “My wife, Jo, who we knew each other going back to [1984 film] Parting Glances.”
He continued, “You know, this business can be a challenge to relationships, but you stick it out and there are rewards and I am so grateful for her. She was my biggest supporter and, also, audience and my biggest inspiration.”
To hear him utter such heartfelt words for someone he loved so very much was more than many could take. While he continues to mourn the life of his late beloved, he has a lifetime full of memories they built together to keep him going each and every day.
