The world got to watch the Royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from start to finish and those who took the opportunity were thrilled the entire time. We loved seeing the bride’s gorgeous dress, the handsome groom in his military finest, and of course the darling children who served as the couple’s wedding party.
But, like with all good things, we are never satisfied - we want more. Especially when we KNOW that there is more going on that we are not allowed to watch. I am speaking, of course, of the highly-touted private evening reception hosted by father of the groom and future king, Prince Charles. It was held in a tent on the grounds of Frogmore House after the ‘public’ afternoon reception was completed - and the guest list was whittled down immensely for the final fête of the night.
In attendance were the Royal Family, of course, and all of the A-list celebrities like George and Amal Clooney, music superstar Elton John, soccer star David Beckham, and tennis ace Serena Williams. The number of guests was a paltry 200 compared to the some-600 who were present for the nuptials.
No photos were permitted at the event and cell phones were collected at the beginning of the evening. No photos have appeared yet, but we can’t imagine that there wasn’t at least one clever attendee who managed to hide a second phone with which to snap a few candid shots. We eagerly await their inevitable appearance!
Even in the absence of photographic evidence of the goings on behind the closed doors of the private affair, some of the guests have revealed details and we, of course, are eating them up with a spoon! One of Meghan’s ‘Suits’ costars, Gabriel Macht and wife Jacinda Barrett took to Instagram to send messages to the couple.
“May your journey together be full of love and children,” and “What a beautiful and joyous day today was. I danced when Elton John sang, laughed at Prince Charles’ fantastic speech, and am honored to witness your love for each other.”
Host Prince Charles and wife Camilla left the festivities at around 11:00, to “leave the young ones to it,” but they did stick around long enough to take part in the impromptu dance-off instigated by James Corden, who served as “comedian and compère for the night,” in which Charles, William, and Harry “took to the dance floor with Meghan and her mother, Doria Ragland.” Sounds amazing!!
The Daily Mirror reports that “Clooney waltzed Kate and Meghan around the dance floor before a spectacular fireworks display capped off the evening.”
And just in case you thought celebrities and royalty are nothing like the rest of us ordinary, common, human beings, then you need to think again! Vanity Fair (reports that “There were plenty of special touches on the night—from cotton-candy stands to slippers for those in high heels and personalized goody bags to take home—while guest Idris Elba took to the decks to play soul classics along with D.J. Sam Totolee. There were even drinking games, including beer pong.”
An insider said, “Harry and Meghan went about midnight, shattered and madly in love.” The couple spent Saturday and Sunday night at a posh room at Windsor Castle and emerged on Tuesday to attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace to commemorate Prince Charles’ upcoming 70th birthday (November 14th). The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have postponed their honeymoon to Africa until later this year.
