The only female polar bear in Australia has given birth. Liya is a 16-year-old polar bear who lives at Seaworld in Australia. This isn't the first time she has given birth. In 2013 she had her first cub, Henry. He was the first cub to be born at Sea World in Australia and now lives in a habitat in Canada.

In the wild, polar bears can live up to 25 years. Polar bears feed almost exclusively on ringed seals and bearded seals. They are also known to eat walrus, beluga whale and bowhead whale carcasses, birds’ eggs, and (rarely) vegetation. Polar bears travel great distances in search of prey.

The World Conservation Union (IUCN) estimates that there are between 20,000-25,000 polar bears in the world.

Polar bears are much smaller than human babies when they are born, weighing just over a pound each. They can grow to be full size within a year, weighing nearly 1000 to 1400 pounds as adults depending on their gender.
