Tragedy Strikes On US Highway, 16 Hospitalized. Driver Arrested On DUI

A tour bus headed to the Augusta National Golf Club overturned on the I-20 eastbound in Columbia County, Georgia. 16 people have been hospitalized following the accident. The bus was on the way to Augusta National in order to attend the tournament when the tragedy struck.

The accident occured when the tour bus ran off of the right side of the road, and overcorrected as he tried to regain control. The bus flipped over, but as of 11:38am the vehicle had been returned to an upright state. Of the 19 people on board the bus, 16 suffered injuries that resulted in their hospitalization, although there has not been word on the state of the victims at this time.

61-year-old Steven F. Hoppenbrouwer from Jet Executive Limousine, Inc was driving the tour bus at the time of the accident and has since been arrested. Hoppenbrouwer has been charged with DUI, Failure to Maintain Lane, and not wearing a seatbelt following the incident. Please pray for the speedy recovery of the victims of this tragedy!
