Allison Ardolino Dinkelacker, a 32-year-old expectant mother went in for a routine check for her pregnancy with her firstborn son. She wasn’t prepared for the devastating news she got at 30 weeks along. At the check up, she was told she had stage III breast cancer and had to start chemotherapy right away.
She had to have an emergency C-section at 31-weeks.
Allison then began six months of chemotherapy, radiation treatments and numerous surgeries in her battle to beat her cancer.
Doctors said she would never be able to get pregnant again.
Six years later, she was still cancer-free. But Allison, a twin, knew she still wanted to have another child.
She told her twin sister, Dawn Ardolino-Policastro, about her desire.
Dawn didn’t waste a minute and volunteered to carry her sister’s baby for her.
Nine months later, a healthy baby boy named Hudson was born.
Dawn made a huge sacrifice to give her sister the greatest gift ever. Displaying the incredible bond that twins have.
