Van Plows Into Crowd In Toronto, Multiple Injured

At 1:30 pm local time in Toronto, Canada, a white van struck a crowd of pedestrians. The van then fled the scene, causing police to ask the public to avoid the area while they investigate the crime.


No official number of victims has yet been released, but the initial estimate is that eight to ten people were injured. According to a witness at the scene, an orange bag believed to be a body bag, was seen being loaded into an ambulance.

Toronto Police spokesperson, Gary Long, gave an interview to the Canadian broadcaster, Global News, where he stated “Reports were that a white van mounted the curb, drove down the sidewalk at southbound Yonge, south of Finch, and struck eight to 10 people possibly, the numbers aren’t confirmed yet.”


Police are on scene investigating the incident, and bystanders report that they are armed with rifles. There has not been any word released yet on whether or not they believe the crime was accidental or on purpose at this time.


The driver who fled the scene of the crime has since been arrested, but no word has been released yet on his identity.
